Walk past the notoriously long queues and admire both the tower and the cathedral at your own pace. The Tower is the third oldest structure in Piazza del Duomo after the cathedral and the baptistery.
The construction of the tower started in 1172 and took place in three stages over a span of 199 years. In 1987, the tower was declared part of the Piazza del Duomo UNESCO World Heritage Site along with the neighboring cathedral, baptistery, and cemetery.

Cathedral opening hours (last entry 30 minutes prior to closing): Nov–Feb: 10:00 AM-12:45 PM; 2:00 PM-5:00 PM, March: 10:00 AM-6:00 PM, April–Sep: 10:00 AM-8:00 PM, and Oct: 10:00 AM-7:00 PM
